Family Apartment in Calpe with Pool, Cot and High Chair
Travelling with children changes what you need from a holiday apartment. The beach goes from being "pretty" to having to have a gentle slope; the pool goes from "optional" to essential for the midday nap; and small details — cot, high chair, washing machine, second child-sized bed — make the difference between a relaxed holiday and a tricky trip. Ámbar Beach is designed for families looking for exactly that. Calpe sits on the Costa Blanca, in Alicante province, southeast Spain.
Check availability for your datesWhy Calpe is a great destination with children
Calpe combines advantages that few Mediterranean coastal destinations offer together:
- Blue Flag La Fossa beach: fine sand, very gentle slope at the shoreline, moderate waves, pedestrian promenade closed to traffic throughout the summer.
- Stable microclimate: sheltered by the Sierra de Bernia to the north and the Peñón de Ifach to the south, with average temperatures of 18 ºC in winter and 28 ºC in summer.
- Practical for self-catering: in Calpe you'll find large supermarkets 5 minutes away by car, a daily fruit market in the old town and restaurants with a children's menu and high chairs in the harbour area.
- Short outings with little ones: the Peñón park, the salt flats with flamingos, small coves like Cala del Racó… no day trip needs more than 30 minutes by car.
Inside the apartment — designed for families
Real capacity, not "sleeps up to X"
The apartment is officially registered for 4 guests and is genuinely comfortable for that number. A family of 4 (two adults + two children) has plenty of space: a double in one bedroom, two singles in the other, and a dining table for games or quiet indoor dinners. For families of 5, the sofa bed in the living room works well for a fifth member or a visiting relative.
A properly equipped kitchen
Cooking with children on holiday is essential: it saves money and, above all, keeps mealtime routines. The kitchen has an oven, microwave, ceramic hob, dishwasher, coffee machine, blender, kettle and enough crockery for 4-6 diners. The fridge holds a full weekly shop.
Babies and toddlers
- Travel cot (up to 24 months) available on request, with a modest supplement.
- Table-mounted high chair available — request it when booking so we have it ready.
- Sockets with safety covers in accessible areas.
- Ceramic hob (not touch-induction that switches on with a brush, no open-flame gas).
Communal pool
The pool is part of the complex, with a lifeguard in high season and a shallow children's area. It has strict opening hours (10:00 to 21:00) and loud noise is forbidden after 14:00 — good news: a quiet siesta is guaranteed.
Washing machine and drying area
Make use of the washing machine from day one — a family easily produces two loads a week, and getting home without suitcases full of dirty clothes is one of the best gifts a well-equipped holiday rental can offer.
La Fossa beach with children
La Fossa is an excellent beach in Calpe for families:
- Gentle slope at the shoreline — small children can walk many metres with the water at knee height.
- Moderate waves except on specific easterly days (check the sea-state app).
- Showers and public toilets every 100-150 metres.
- Beach bars with a children's menu in season.
- Playgrounds along the promenade.
- Protected cycle lane the length of the promenade — ideal for hiring bikes with child seats.

- We send you the building access instructions on arrival day.
- If you're running late, we answer WhatsApp at any time — no reception that closes at 22:00.
Frequently asked questions for families
- How many people fit comfortably?
- Four with room to spare (two adults + two children). Up to five using the sofa bed in the living room.
- Are the cot and high chair an extra charge?
- Yes, a modest supplement per stay. It isn't daily hire: pay once and use them as long as you like during your stay.
- Is there a Mercadona or supermarket nearby?
- Yes, Consum and Mercadona are 5-10 minutes on foot. On the first day you can pick up the basics on foot and then drive over for a bigger weekly shop.
- Does the pool have a shallow area?
- Yes, there's a shallower area so children can play safely. Parental supervision is always required — the lifeguard is only on duty in high season.
- Is La Fossa beach closed to traffic?
- The promenade is pedestrianised all summer. In winter vehicle access is also heavily restricted.
- Do you accept late arrivals?
- Yes. As check-in is online and access is by code/secure key, you can arrive whenever you need to. We just ask that you let us know so we can have everything ready.
